It's a collaboration between Mike Giant and Leader Bike. He gave some Leader Bike frames a new look, and it's for auction. "Bikes on Wheels and artist Mike Giant have teamed up with Leader bikes to produce some custom pieces of bike art. These frames are going to be on display for the Bicycle Film Festival at Mascot, 1267 Queen st.W in Parkdale from August 18, before being auctioned off for charity. Here are some of the interview.

Hi Gabrielle, welcome to the team. Vital stats first, age, where are you from, first bike, what d'you do for a living, tell us in the UK a little about yourself....

19, I'm from Milwaukee, WI. I work at Northwestern Mutual, an Insurance Company in downtown Milwaukee. (I have a mom job!) My first bike was when I was a little girl so I don’t remember exactly...but my first fixed gear was a old Raleigh frame then after that and my current bike an eighth inch
I love to listen to music! :) Suburban Kids with Biblical Names, Jens Lekman, I'm From Barcelona, Modest Mouse, City & Colour, Beirut are always playing on my zune. I love hanging out with friends and goofing off. Moving to Portland, OR this summer, and I can't wait!

How did you start riding fixed gear bikes?

I'm going to be honest here, I hadn't rode a bike in a really longgg time before I got my first fixed gear! (Not going to say how long, because it's pretty sad!) I started hanging out with a bunch of guys that had fixed gears and they were very intriguing to me, so I thought hey, why not!? So since my Dad used to race when he was younger and worked at a local bike shop where I grew up I got a really good deal on my first fixed gear!

What are you most looking forward to whilst riding for Charge Bikes and for 2010 in general?

I am really looking forward to riding for Charge Bikes and being a part of something that is growing so fast! It's funny because when I first started riding I looked up to Juliet Elliott as someone who I wanted to be like, and now I am riding on the same team as her! I'm also looking forward to riding the scissor frame and fork, because I think it's going to help me progress in fixed gear freestyle a lot. In 2010 I would just like to see a lot more girl riders out there, and as for me, to really step up my game and not be afraid to try big tricks!!

Juliet Elliott, she’s like every boy’s dream girl: doesn’t mind getting dirty, rides bmx, rides fix, throws out amazing tricks, pops that gloss, and hey, she’s fit and HOT! She’s been dominating the track bike scene in London for quite some time now and I doubt she’ll stop any time soon.

how did you get into riding?
i googled how to convert an old frame to fixed and started riding that

whats in your bag?
its full of dirt mainly as i just got back from a festival. Other than that, i got a bunch of filter tips floating around, a new chain and sprocket for my BMX, my wallet and lipstick. And normally my camera. But obviously i took that out to take the picture!

Radiant Baby by KEITH HARING

Keith Haring's Radiant Baby will be back during the month of May at the Carmichael Gallery, along with several other Haring originals. The iconic figures will be represented by a mix of media, including a rare vinyl Radiant Baby Doll that has been around since Haring's 27th birthday party in 1985. The exhibition will be held to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of his passing.
